How I got rid of my migraines




My story with Migraines...


Since I was around 20 years old, I suffered with very frequent migraines. I did not know why, but I was not interested in going to doctors with it either. Since I was a child I disliked doctors and hospitals and I would not go there unless it would be an emergency.

Anyway, who had migraines, knows that they are not fun at all. Definitely not every second or third day...Well, long story short, for years they were my unwanted companion. Migraine rules and dictates your day. You can't think clearly about anything and enjoy yourself 100 % because the pain is always there, right in front of your mind. Luckily, if I can say that, mine were not so severe. Most of the time they were mild, so I could cope with every day life. I did not have them for a whole days either. They came for few hours a day, but still, I would rather have my head back to normal...

I did not take pain killers for it, unless it became unbearable, which did happen sometimes. Even as a teenager I remember taking a pain killer for migraine...so I am not even sure when this whole problem started...


How I freed myself from migraines naturally...


When I was 25 my mum became ill. At first, doctors would not know what is wrong with her, but they gave her all kinds of medications anyway... Nothing helped, on the other hand, they made her much worse... They called it autoimmune disease. Because her health was deteriorating rapidly, I decided to do some research online. Everywhere I looked it pointed me towards the food we eat... We could see, that if she would leave herself in hands of doctors, she would not have long to live. We decided to take it into our hands and changed her diet completely. She stopped taking medications that hey have prescribed for her. Because she was so desperate, she did not think twice about it. She had no problem with going completely vegetarian from one day to another. Not just that, she stayed away from gluten and dairy too... It helped her so much, that she never looked back...


Anyway, another long story short, this was my introduction to healthy eating. As I was doing the research after work for my mum, I was learning so much about health. I have learned about importance of reading labels on ALL the products in shops, about food additives, organic foods, conventionally grown foods and chemicals and pesticides they use while growing them, about meat industry, pharmaceuticals and much more... I was truly shocked with everything I was discovering. There was no way I could stay the same. Before I was a completely blind consumer, now I was checking everything I purchased... Not just that. I also became a vegetarian myself. For the beginning strict with avoiding gluten too. (I went on and off with gluten ever since, because in our rushed society it is the easiest thing to grab if you are on the move...)

Without having any specific health goals, I was determined to eat well from then on...



Migraine free for the first time in a very long time...


One day not too long after I have changed my diet, I have realized that I did not have migraines for few weeks... I was so surprised and thrilled with joy. My head was free from pain again. I decided that I will never cook meat - an animal in my kitchen again. An that has been 10 years now. There were occasions, when I would have a portion of meat on family dinners or travels because eating healthy vegetarian food was and still is quite difficult in some laces. Unless you want to eat chips, rice, pizza or fried cheese there are not many options out there for you... Healthy, vegetarian, vegan food is only now becoming more available and accepted...


SIGNS OF MIGRAINE AGAIN...

One year we went on a family holiday. We would all take turns to cook meals for everyone. Everyone there was a meat eater, so my husband and I didn't want to be such a headache for everyone with our Diet...we were eating what they have prepared, and that meant meat. For three days in a row I ate meat again and then I have realized, that my migraine was back again. I knew that the reason for it was meat. After that for the rest of the holiday I made sure I am vegetarian again and I was pain free again. I have tested this fact and effect of meat on me few times since and it was always with the same results. As soon I had meat few times in a row, pain came back. As long as I would not eat meet products, I was happily pain free...


Now for the last 2-3 years I am a strict vegetarian. Not even thinking about touching meat again. And I can honestly tell you I AM HAPPILY MIGRAINE FREE...
