That's why we created our Algarve Hub.
When we found our beautiful gated seaside condominium, we knew we'd found the perfect place to bring that feeling back.
Here, children can safely play outdoors together, run through the gardens, invent games and enjoy the simple freedom of being children, while parents relax, work or enjoy a quiet coffee, knowing they're never far away.
At the same time, parents find something just as valuable—a welcoming community of worldschooling, homeschooling and travelling families who understand this way of life. Morning coffees become beach walks, shared meals become lifelong friendships, and strangers quickly become people you can't imagine leaving behind.
This isn't about rushing from one destination to the next.

What Does Everyday Life Look Like?
No two days at the hub are ever the same. Mornings are yours. Some families spend time homeschooling or working remotely, while others enjoy a slow breakfast, head to the beach, explore a local market or simply relax by the pool. In the afternoons, our community comes together for an optional meetup, giving everyone the freedom to create a morning that works for their own family. But some of the best moments aren't planned at all. They happen naturally, as children drift from one apartment to another, gathering outside to play while parents enjoy the rare feeling of not having to organize every minute of the day. One day you might be surfing the Atlantic, hiking along the coastline or exploring a hidden waterfall. The next could be spent at the beach, creating artwork, playing outdoor games or simply watching the children disappear into hours of imaginative play together. As the day winds down, we might gather once again for pizza night, games, a movie night, mum's meetup, dad's meetup or simply another spectacular Algarve sunset. There's no pressure to join everything. Spend the day with the community or explore at your own pace—you'll always know there's a friendly group waiting whenever you're ready to join.
The Childhood We Remember
When I was growing up, some of my happiest memories weren't from holidays or special occasions. They were the ordinary days. Knocking on a friend's door to see if they wanted to come outside. Riding bikes until sunset. Inventing games, climbing trees and running around the neighborhood with a group of friends, only heading home when the day was over. There was a freedom to childhood that feels increasingly rare today. As parents, many of us would love our children to experience that same sense of independence, adventure and connection—but in the busy world we live in, opportunities like that are becoming harder to find. When I discovered Herdade dos Salgados, I immediately saw something special. A beautiful, safe, gated complex with 24/7 security, where children could enjoy a little more freedom again. A place where older children can walk over to a friend's apartment, knock on the door and ask, "Do you want to come out and play?" And that's exactly what happens. Most days, someone simply writes a message in our group chat: "The kids are outside." Within minutes, more children appear from every direction. Friends join friends, games are invented, and before long there's a whole gang of children of all ages laughing, exploring and playing together. No one organized it. No one planned it. It just happens. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy a coffee, catch up on work, relax by the pool or spend time with new friends, knowing their children are safe, happy and only a few moments away. For many families, these unplanned moments become the most treasured part of the hub. Because what we're creating isn't just a season in Portugal. It's the kind of childhood so many of us were lucky enough to have—and one we hope today's children can experience too.

Why Families Return Year After Year
Over the past two years, we've welcomed more than 200 families from around the world across our hubs in Slovakia, Sardinia and Portugal. Every season begins with strangers. Families arriving from different countries, different backgrounds and different walks of life. But it never stays that way for long. Many families first join us for the sunshine, the beaches or the adventure. But that's rarely the reason they return. They return because their children found the kind of friendships that continue long after the season ends. And because, often for the first time in years, they watched their children experience the simple joy of disappearing outside to play with friends for hours—coming home tired, happy and already asking when they could do it all again. Because parents finally found people who understand this way of life—where no one questions homeschooling, worldschooling or choosing a different path. They return because they could truly be themselves, surrounded by a welcoming community that simply gets it. Somewhere between the slow mornings, shared adventures, beach days, sunset gatherings and children knocking on each other's doors asking, "Do you want to come out and play?" How to Join Our Algarve Hub
Joining our hub is simple, and we're here to help you every step of the way. 1. Choose Your Accommodation Browse our Accommodation Guide and choose the option that best suits your family and budget. 2. Complete Your Registration Fill out our registration form below with a few details about your family and your planned stay. Once we receive your form, we'll send you everything you need to confirm your place including the details for sending your contribution. 3. Secure Your Place To confirm your booking, simply send your community contribution. Your contribution helps us organise and host the hub, plan optional daily meetups, build a welcoming community and create an unforgettable experience for every family. Contribution to join the hub Weekly Stays • 1 week – €100, 2 weeks – €150, 3 weeks – €200, 4 weeks – €250 Monthly Stays • First month – €250, Each additional month – €230 Returning Families • 4 weeks or longer – €200 per month What's Included? Your community contribution includes: Access to our welcoming international community and a private chat group. Optional daily meetups throughout your stay. Community events and gatherings. Access to our private hub group before and during your stay. Support from our team throughout the season. Paid experiences, such as boat trips, horse riding, surfing lessons, ziplining, dolphin watching and other paid activities, are organized for the community but paid for separately by each family if they choose to join. This gives every family the freedom to decide which experiences best suit their interests and budget. You can join us for as little as one week or stay for the entire season. Whether you join us for one week or several months, our hope is simple: that your family leaves with unforgettable memories, lifelong friendships and children who experienced a little of the childhood many of us were lucky enough to have.
