Join us for an unforgettable getaway at Lake Počúvadlo—the largest and most scenic lake in Central Slovakia, celebrated for its natural beauty. During this two-week stay, you'll connect with like-minded worldschooling families while exploring lush forests, discovering over 20 nearby lakes, and diving into the region’s rich history. Families will also have the chance to mine their own crystals, enjoy hikes, wander through medieval towns, and visit breathtaking castles.

After this peaceful lakeside retreat, we’ll head north
for 7 days in the High Tatras, where dramatic peaks and panoramic trails await. This part of the journey focuses on stunning hiking routes, adventure, and awe-inspiring views, with guided hikes through some of Slovakia’s most spectacular alpine landscapes.

2 Weeks in Central Slovakia
What we will be experiencing together?
During the first two weeks in Slovakia, we will be based at Lake Počúvadlo, located just 12 minutes from the historic town of Banská Štiavnica. Each family can choose accommodation that suits their budget and preferences. Further down the page, you’ll find a list of the best websites and recommended locations to help you find the perfect place to stay.
We’ll be meeting daily throughout the hub, with all meetups completely optional — giving you the freedom to choose how much or how little you want to join. Most activities will take place at the lakes or villages and towns nearby, while a few special days will include day trips up to an hour away to explore even more of the region’s beauty.

1 Week in High Tatras
What we will be experiencing together?
During our week in the High Tatras, we will be based at the TatraGolf Mountain Resort — a comfortable, family-friendly resort nestled in breathtaking mountain scenery. It’s the perfect home base for homeschooling families to connect, with plenty of space for children to play and spend time together between activities.
Here you will find 1-2 bedroom apartments, playground, waterpark, zipline, petting farm, indoor play area and restaurant with optional breakfast and dinner buffet with traditional Slovak food.
Families are also welcome to choose their own accommodation nearby if they prefer, while still joining all scheduled meetups and activities. Further down the page, you’ll find helpful information and recommended way to book your stay at the resort to benefit from an amazing offer 4 nights + 2 nights free at this resort and an additional 10% discount as well.
In the High Tatras, we’ll spend our days exploring some of Slovakia’s most breathtaking alpine landscapes.
We’ll be meeting daily throughout the hub, with all meetups completely optional — giving you the freedom to choose how much or how little you want to join. Most hikes will take place 20 - 30 minutes away by car.
All of the hikes will be child-friendly and suitable for kids of all ages, though they won’t be accessible for prams. On the longer hikes, each family can decide how far they’d like to go at their own pace.
Since we expect a mix of families with both younger and older children, on some hikes we may split into two groups: one moving at a faster pace, and another at a more relaxed pace for those with smaller kids. Both groups will meet at the finish point if they want to reach that far, so everyone can enjoy the experience in a way that suits them best.
We’ll plan to go on hikes and explorations every other day. On the in-between days, we’ll stay and enjoy time together at the resort — relaxing, playing, and connecting as a community. On one of the hikes, we’ll even take a small mountain train halfway up, and then continue the trail on foot for an unforgettable alpine adventure.

It’s a unique opportunity to enrich your family’s learning and exploration journey.
Since each family has different budget considerations, accommodation will be arranged individually by each family.
Please note that transport, lodging, meals, visas, and entrance fees are the responsibility of the attendees.
How to book your stay?
2 weeks in Central Slovakia
Since every family has a different budget, each will find and book their own accommodation to suit their preferences.
This region is highly tourist-friendly, offering a wide range of options, including hostels, campsites, glamping, B&Bs, guesthouses, private rooms, hotels, entire cottages, and more.
Our main hub will be at Lake Počúvadlo, where we’ll spend most of our time. You can choose to stay near the lake or in nearby areas such as Štiavnické Bane, Banská Štiavnica, and Svätý Anton.
When booking, be sure to check the distance to Lake Počúvadlo, as you'll be commuting there most days.

1 Week in High Tatras
We'll be based at TatraGolf Mountain Resort, — a comfortable and scenic location that's perfect for families.
That said, you're also very welcome to stay in any of the surrounding areas
and still join us for the daily meetups and hikes we’ll have planned.
Important Tip for Families Booking at TatraGolf Resort:
To take advantage of the current promotion — 2 + 1 night free — we recommend splitting your stay into two separate 3-night bookings rather than one continuous 6-night stay.
By booking August 8–11 and then August 11–14 as two separate reservations, you’ll only pay for 4 nights in total and enjoy 2 nights completely free.

Families booked for the Hub will be invited to a private Facebook group for direct communication.
One week before the Hub begins, we will release the schedule for the first week.
Regular updates on activities and trips will follow, with adjustments made as needed based on the weather.
Each day will feature a variety of activities, including lakeside relaxation, hiking, exploring historical towns and castles, sampling traditional meals, cooking over an open fire, playing games, and much more.
